ConstitutionOn three places, the Serbian constitution opens for quotas: "The State shall guarantee the equality of women and men and develop equal opportunities policy" (Article 15); special measures to ensure this equality "shall not be deemed discrimination" (Article 21); and "equality and representation of different genders and members of national minorities shall be provided" in the National Assembly (Article 100).
Electoral law The lists of the political parties must contain at least 30 percent of each sex. (Law on Elected Representatives, Article 40a).
Legal sanctions for non-compliance: Electoral law If an electoral lists fails to provide at least 30 per cent of each sex and reserve each forth place for the sex least represented, the Republic Electoral Commission should refuse to proclaim the list (Law on Elected Representatives, Article 40a).
Rank order/placement rules: Electoral Law Every fourth place on electoral lists is reserved for the less represented sex (Law on Elected Representatives, Article 40a).

Constitution The Local Election Act states that the lists of the political parties must contain at least 30 percent of each sex (Law on Local Elections, Article 20 [3]).
Legal sanctions for non-compliance: Electoral law If an electoral list fails to provide at least 30 per cent of each sex, the Republic Electoral Commission should refuse to proclaim the list (Law on Local Elections, Article 20 [4-5]).
