ConstitutionIt is stated in article 78(1) that the parliament shall consist of one woman representative for every district, and such numbers of representatives of the army, youth, workers with disabilities and other groups as Parliament may determine. There are 56 districts in Uganda.
Electoral law The Parliament of Uganda is comprised as follows: 214 Constituency Representatives; 56 District Women Representatives, previously indirectly elected, but since 2006 elected by all voters on a special ballot in each district for women candidates only; 10 Uganda People's Defence Forces Representatives, of whom two must be women. 5 Youth Representatives, of whom one must be a woman, 5 Representatives of Persons with Disabilities, of whom one must be a woman, 5 Representatives of Workers, of whom one must be a woman.
